Kodály Pedagogy II: Advanced Lesson Planning

Participants in this course will expand their understanding of the Kodály approach through the development of a music literacy strand for intermediate grades 3 – 5. Topics to be addressed include: 1) developing engaging & inclusive lessons; 2) creating a year-long overview; 3) examining the principals of preparation-presentation-practice when delivering instruction; 4) modifying activities and games for hybrid and remote teaching situations; and 5) selecting and analyzing high-quality repertoire to meet student’s diverse academic, social/emotional, language and cultural needs. As a part of this course, participants will be provided time to develop group teaching tasks in small groups.
Prerequisite: Completion of Kodály Level I or II at any Kodály Certification Program.
